Assumption is the mother of all mistakes and she's not a forgiving mother either. 👵

When you're speaking with candidates, a prospective client, or even your significant other, are you making assumptions? It can be a tough habit to break but there's a million and one reasons to start curbing that habit.

Assumptions... 🛑

- Wreak havoc on understanding.

- Prolong conversations and not in a positive way.

- Can creative a defensive response from others.

- Are NOT better than asking questions that help clarify issues/solutions.

- Hurt productivity. 🤕

- Do not foster meaningful connections. ❌

Instead... ⚡

- Ask more questions. 💡

- Keep assumptions or preconceived notions out of the conversation.

- Don't assume you know what someone is going to say or why someone did something. Let. Them. Speak.

- Listen👂. Don't just wait for your turn to speak.

- Open yourself to understanding, even though an explanation may not fit your assumptions.

Look I get it as a chronic overthinker and former assumer of things! It's tough, but not impossible to change the way we think and communicate to foster better connection and relationships.
